New Year’s Eve Text Messages

Where were you at on New Year's Eve? If you are like most, you were counting down the minutes to January 1, 2008. With that being said, not everybody could be with all their friends and family on this glorious day. Of course, this does not mean that they could not wish them a happy New Years. In the past, your only option for getting in touch with somebody was the telephone. But in today's day and age, a new way of communicating has taken over: the text message. When it comes down to it, New Year's Eve is one day of the year when text messaging is at its best.

Believe it or not, sending a text message on New Year's Eve was not a guarantee this year. Sure, you could try to send your message, but this did not mean that it would actually go through on time, or at all for that matter. Many of the biggest cell phone service providers in the world have made it known that too many text messages being prove this point.

Tens of millions of sms text messages were sent during the first few minutes of 2008. This holds true all over the world, but the United States and the United Kingdom were definitely tops. The reason for this is quite simple: these parts of the world have the most advanced technology and the most cell phone users.

Why do so many people send text messages on New Year's Eve? This is a common question, but one that is not difficult to answer. First and foremost, it is the easiest way to get in touch with others. For instance, you may have 100 contacts in your cell phone. Can you imagine how long it would take to call each one when the New Year finally arrives? You would have spent the first few hours of 2008 on the phone. Instead of doing this, millions of people decided to send a generic text message to their entire contact list. This makes it easy to wish friends and family a happy New Year without having to spend hours on end on the telephone. There are not too many ways of communicating that are more efficient than text messaging.
